Earl B. Austin, Jr. (1926-2015)

Founder

Earl B. Austin, Jr. was a member of the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants and past Chairman of the Maine Board of Accountancy.

 

With a rich history of activity in local organizations, he had served as past President of the Lewiston/Auburn Shrine Club, Kora Arab Patrol, and the Auburn Grandstand Club. In 1976, he was honored by the Auburn Business Association as Auburn's Man of the Year.  He had served as past President and Treasurer of the ELHS Alumni Association and was a past member of the investment committee of the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children of North America.

 

He was actively involved with the Lewiston/Auburn Sports Hall of Fame and has been honored with the initiation of the Earl B. Austin, Jr. Award, presented each year to a community member who has exhibited exemplary commitment to the local sports community.

 

Earl attended the University of Maine before graduating from the Bentley School of Accounting in 1950.  He founded Earl B. Austin Jr. and Associates, P.A., in November, 1950.

Earl passed away in 2015, but his name lives on and he will always be remembered within the local community.  He truly was an icon to us all.
