Earl B. Austin, Jr.
Earl B. Austin, Jr. is a member of the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountnats and past Chairman of the Maine Board of Accountancy. With a rich history of activity in local organizations, he has served as past President of the Lewiston/Aiburn Shrine Club, Kora Arab Patrol, and the Auburn Grandstand Club. In 1976, he was honored by the Auburn Business Association as Auburn's Man of the Year. He has served as past President and Treasurer of the ELHS Alumni Association and is a past member of the investment committee of the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children of North America. He is actively involved with the Lewiston/Auburn Sports Hall of Fame and has been honored with the initiation of the Earl B. Austin, Jr. Award, presented each year to a community member who has exhibited exemplary commitment to the local sports community. Earl attended the University of Maine before graduating from the Bentley School of Accounting in 1950. He founded Earl B. Austin Jr. and Associates, P.A., in November, 1950.

Steve Austin, CPA, President
President of Austin Associates, Mr. Austin joined his father at Earl B. Austin Jr. and Associates, P.A. in 1971 after graduating from Bentley College with a B.S. in accounting. In 1980, Steve Austin and Steve Bryant began a new chapter in the company's history, forming Austin Associates, PA, CPAs.Steve specializes in professional services, acquisitions and mergers and estates. Mr. Austin is a member of the Maine State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Throughout the years there have been few organizations in the Lewiston Auburn community that Steve has not assisted in one fashion or another and continues to support our region today. Mr. Austin resides in Auburn with his wife, Teresa.

George Richardson, CPA
A partner with Austin Associates, Mr. Richardson joined the company in 1972 after graduating from Thomas College with a B.S. in Accounting. He specializes in the professional service, retail and agricultural industries. George frequently volunteers as a guest speaker at industry events, primarily in the agricultural sector, as a trusted financial expert. Mr. Richardson is a member of the Maine State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Richardson resides in Turner with his wife, Linda.

Claire Thompson, CPA, VA
A shareholder with the firm, Claire has been with Austin Associates since 1982. She received a B.S. from the University of Maine at Orono and has been a certified public accountant since 1982. Her professional background includes manufacturing, construction, retail and service industries, trade associations as well as business valuations. She received a Certificate of Educational Achievement from the AICPA in January 1997 for completing a sixty-four hour course in Business Valuation and is a Certified Valuation Analyst. This designation is awarded by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.Claire is also involved in overseeing the firm’s auditing department. She is currently on the Board of Directors at Auburn Savings Bank and has been active on the local boards of the Women’s Hospital Association of Central Maine Medical Center, Headstart, and the YMCA. In addition, she is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of CPA’s. Ms. Thompson lives in Auburn with her husband and daughter.

Steve Bryant, CPA
A shareholder of the firm, Mr. Bryant has been with Austin Associates since 1978. He received his B.S. in Accounting from Bentley College and has been a certified public accountant for over 30 years. His professional background includes tax planning and preparation for a variety of businesses, including manufacturing, construction and tourism. He is on the Board of Directors of Mechanic's Savings Bank, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Bryant lives in Auburn with his wife, Sharon.

Rene Landry, CPA
A partner with Austin Associates, Mr. Landry joined the company in 1972 after graduating from Husson College with a B.S. in Accounting. He specializes in the professional service, retail and agricultural industries, with an additional emphasis in information systems. Rene spearheaded the evolution of the firm’s IT infrastructure beginning in the 1980s and continues to support our information systems today. Mr. Landry is a member of the Maine State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. A native of Lewiston, Mr. Landry lives with his wife, Louise, and has three grown sons.

Michael Spaulding, CPA
A shareholder of the firm, Mr. Spaulding has been with Austin Associates since 1988. He received a B.S. in accounting from the University of Southern Maine and has been a certified public accountant since 1991. His professional background includes tax preparation and planning for individuals and businesses, and management advisory services for construction, retail and service industries. Mr. Spaulding is the Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Auburn as well as the Androscoggin Historical Society, an Associate of Central Maine Medical Center and a volunteer for the United Way Professional Division. Mr. Spaulding is a member of the Associated Constructors of Maine, Inc., the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of CPA’s. Mr. Spaulding lives in Lewiston with his wife, Diane, they have four children.

Carol Richardson
Carol Richardson has been with Austin Associates for nearly ten years and retired this May. Our clients and staff have come to know Carol over the years and built great friendships as she has warmly greeted our guests and clients when visiting and calling our Auburn office and worked magic during tax season to keep our front office running smoothly.

We have valued Carol's dedication and friendship and wish her every enjoyment during retirement.

Becky Adams
An associate with Austin Associates, Ms. Adams has been with the firm since 2005. She is a 2006 graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta, earning her B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Accounting and plans to become a CPA. She also received her certification as a Quickbooks Proadvisor in May 2005 and has maintained her certification each year. Becky is responsible for the full scope of tax and accounting needs of partnerships, individuals, corporations and S-corporations in multiple industries. Working collaboratively with a group of colleagues at the firm, Becky is involved with many clients within the agricultural industries. Prior to joining the Firm, Becky worked for a small Accounting firm in Turner, Maine for two years. She graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1997 and resides in Canton with her husband, Travis and their sons, Austin and Brady.

Matthew Bennett
An associate with Austin Associates, Matthew Bennett joined the firm in 2010. He received his B.S. in Accounting along with a B.A. in History and a minor in Finance from Hartwick College in New York and plans to become a CPA. Prior to joining the Firm, Matthew worked for Ernst & Young LLP, one of the Big Four accounting firms, with an office in Stamford, Connecticut for two years. Matt volunteers as Assistant Coach for the Edward Little Varsity Baseball team and works with our local Chamber of Commerce as a presenter for Career Fairs. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 2004 and currently resides in Auburn, Maine.

Albert Bergen
Albert Bergen joined Austin Associates in 2010. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Maine in 2002, and later studied accounting at the University of Southern Maine. He is a 1998 graduate of the Maine School of Science and Mathematics. Prior to joining Austin Associates, Albert had five years of experience in public accounting with Berry Talbot Royer in Falmouth, Maine. Mr. Bergen specializes in corporate and partnership taxation, and also prepares compiled and reviewed financial statements for clients in a broad range of industries. He is a resident of Auburn.

Kayla Bickford
An associate with Austin Associates, Ms. Bickford has been with the firm since 2011. She is a 2010 graduate of Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, earning her B.S. in Accounting and Finance and plans to become a CPA. Prior to joining Austin Associates, Kayla had two years of experience in accounting with a small tax firm out of Portland, Maine. Kayla is active in the Young Professionals of the Lewiston-Auburn Area, YPLAA, a division of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce. Kayla is a 2006 graduate of Poland Regional High School and currently resides in Mechanic Falls.

Scott Booker, CPA
Mr. Booker joined the firm in 2000, a graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a B.S. in Accounting, earning his Certified Public Accounting license in 2002. Serving several industry sectors, his professional background includes tax planning and preparation for individuals and businesses, financial statement preparation and management advisory services. Scott is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of CPA’s. Scott resides in Lisbon with his wife, Julie, and their children, Jaxson and Paige.

Steve Bosinger, C.O.O.
Austin Associates’ Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Bosinger received his B.S. in Business Admninstration with an emphasis on the Hotel Industry from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire and his Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Southern Maine. He has over twenty years of experience in various executive and operations management positions in a variety of industries. He lives in Fryeburg with his dog, his wife and his daughter, not necessarily in that order.

Philip Doucette, CPA
Philip Doucette, CPA joined Austin Associates, PA, CPAs in 1999, earning his Certified Public Accounting license in 2002. Philip is responsible for the full scope of tax and accounting needs of partnerships, individuals, corporations and S-corporations in multiple industries. Working collaboratively with a group of colleagues at the firm, Phil fills a key role in engagements with clients within agricultural industries. Mr. Doucette is a member of the Maine Society of CPA's, past Treasurer of the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is an Associate member of the Androscoggin Head Start Board of Directors. Phil is a native of Van Buren, Maine and a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono. He currently resides in Auburn with his wife and children.

Richard Doyon, CPA
Mr. Doyon has been with the firm since 1982. He received his B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Southern Maine and has been a certified public accountant since 1975. Mr. Doyon began his professional career with an international accounting firm and was a partner in his own firm before joining Austin Associates. His professional assignments include accounting, tax, and management consulting responsibilities for various construction, manufacturing, distribution, real estate development and professional service companies. Mr. Doyon specializes in advising clients on the use of Limited Liability Companies (LLC’s) for transactional and multi-entity situations and is a member of Associated Constructors of Maine, Inc., the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants.

An associate with Austin Associates, Mr. Kearns has been with the firm since 2005. Prior to joining the Firm, Robert worked for an accounting firm in Bridgton, Maine where he specialized in audits for governmental and non-profit organizations. Robert graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 1995 with a degree in accounting. He became a CPA in Maine in 2001. Robert is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of CPA’s. Robert lives in Lewiston with his wife and two sons.
