The office located on Roosevelt Trail in Windham is consolidated with our Auburn office.
Debbie Hilliard, CPA retires from Public Accounting after 8 years with Austin Associates.

Mark Overhaug, EA returns to the firm and Crystal Malia, CPA joins the firm.
Steve Bosinger joins the firm as Chief Operations Officer.

Austin Associates is selected as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine.

John Pike retires from Public Accounting after 11 years with Austin Associates.

Hillary F. Eaton joins the firm.

Pamela J. Chaplin joins the firm and Rita M. James returns to the firm.

Robert J. Kearns, Jeremy Marchessault and Rebecca Adams join the firm.

Jean Strom is honored by receiving the Employee of the Year Award presented by the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Austin Associates purchases the firm Hunt & Timar, located in Windham, and opens a branch on Roosevelt Trail in Windham.

Mary E. Mendes, EA and Jodie L. Boisvert join the firm, working out of the Windham office.

Austin Associates celebrates its 50th anniversary with an open house at Lost valley attended by 700 clients and friends.

The firm closes the Rumford branch as a result of the resignation of the branch manager. Many of this office's clients are subsequently being served out of the Auburn and Norway offices.

Michael G. Spaulding, CPA is admitted as a shareholder of Austin Associates, P.A., CPA.

Austin Associates is one of six businesses to be awarded the Maine Governor's Award for Business Excellence by Governor John McKernan. At present, we are the only accounting firm to be so designated.

Austin Associates purchases Hilton Medical Consulting, a medical fee coding business for physician practices. The company is renamed to Hilton Medical Resources and in 1995 is moved to Austin Associates' headquarters at Two Great Falls Plaza in Auburn. The company is renamed to Austin Medical Billing and Resources, Inc.

Lorette A. Harvey attains her Certified Public Accountant's License.

1992
Austin Associates purchases Fitzgerald Retirement Plan Services, inc., a third party pension administration company located in Portland, to offer additional services to accounting clients. The company is renamed to Downeast Pension Services, Inc. and managed by Rene Morin, CPA, originally from the firm's Auburn office.

1991
Lorette A. Harvey joins the firm.

Michael G. Spaulding attains his Certified Public Accountant's License.

George E. Richardson, CPA is admitted as a shareholder of Austin Associates, P.A., CPA.

Richard F. Doyon, CPA and Claire D. Thompson, CPA are admitted as shareholders of Austin Associates, P.A., CPA.

Michael G. Spaulding joins the firm.

Nancy L. Timberlake, CPA joins the firm.

1985
During the years spanning 1980 through 1985 the growth experienced by the form demanded several location changes until reaching its present location in 1985 at Two Great Falls Plaza in Auburn.

Geoffrey B. Bray joins the firm.

Rene H. Landry, CPA is admitted as a shareholder of Austin Associates, P.A., CPA.

Jean E. Strom joins the firm, working out of the Norway office.

The firm opens a second branch office in Rumford, with the purchase of an existing practice.

Stephen Austin and Stephen Bryant transition Earl B. Austin Jr. & Associates into a new firm, Austin Associates, P.A., CPA.

The firm opens a branch office in Norway, Maine.

Stephen G. Bryant joins the firm.

1972
George E. Richardson and Rene H. Landry join the firm.

1971
Earl's son Stephen joined the firm full-time after graduating from Bentley College, the firm became incorporated to Earl B. Austin, Jr. & Associates.

1950
Austin Associates was founded as a public accounting firm by Earl B. Austin, Jr., as there were no certified public accounting firms in the Lewiston-Auburn area at that time.
